Call for Papers: Special Issue on Deep Matter, Energy & Environments

Deadline for Paper Submission: June 30, 2018

Engineering is an international peer-reviewed academic journal sponsored by Chinese Academy of Engineering. The journal is published on a bimonthly basis in English. Online versions are available through and

Volatiles are minor components of the Earth. However, the circulation of volatiles like the blood stream of an organism, in the Earth’s deep interior dictate climate, resources, energy, natural hazards, and other essentials that define the Earth as a habitable planet. The high pressure-temperature conditions in the deep interior drastically and categorically alter the physics and chemistry of the volatiles; full understanding their behaviors requires studies under extreme environments. This special issue will focus on the deep carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and other volatiles, and their cycle in the Earth’s interior, and the significances to energy mineral resources and environmental change. This issue will publish original research papers and reviews including but not limited to the following fields:

l  Extreme Physics and Chemistry of Carbon

l  Extreme Physics and Chemistry of Volatiles

l  Computation

l  Reservoirs and Fluxes

l  Diamonds and Redox

l  Deep Energy

l  Deep Life

l  Deep Lower Mantle

l  The 4D Global System
