This study aims to optimize the geometrical parameters of an under-actuated mechanical finger by conducting a theoretical analysis of these parameters. The finger is actuated by a flexion tendon and an extension tendon. The considered parameters are the tendon guide positions with respect to the hinges. By applying such an optimization, the correct kinematical and dynamical behavior of the closing cycle of the finger can be obtained. The results of this study are useful for avoiding the snap-through and the single joint hyperflexion, which are the two breakdowns most frequently observed during experimentation on prototypes. Diagrams are established to identify the optimum values for the tendon guides position of a finger with specified dimensions. The findings of this study can serve as guide for future finger design.

Study on index system of suitable industry for non-grid-connected wind power

Strategic Study of CAE 2015, Volume 17, Issue 3, Pages 60-66
The index system is divided into two levels: the first level includes macro index groups in four aspects, respectively reflecting the characteristics of economy, society, environment, and random fluctuation of wind power; the second level reflects specific index construction of each macro index group in the first level. The weight of an index at each level in index system is eventually determined by level analysis through classifying each index, establishing a multi-level structure, building a paired comparison matrix, and through many rounds of comprehensive analysis in accordance with CR testing. The method and the process of weight determination is objective, rigorous, and scientific. A comprehensive evaluation model is built according to the intrinsic link between indexes, and finally, a scientific, reasonable, and improved system of comprehensive index evaluation is formed. The index system shall observe combination of the current interests with long-term interests, economic, and ecological benefits with social benefits and static analysis with dynamic analysis and take account of guidance, systematic, scientific and adaptive principles in the process of its establishment.

Suitable Weir Heights to Improve the Provision of Environmental Flows in Urban Rivers Article

Many studies have been conducted on environmental flow (e-flow) assessment and supply, but e-flow shortages remain common in many urban rivers. In addition to known reasons such as ever-increasing competition among water users and inadequate execution of designed e-flow supply plans, we propose that designing weir heights without explicitly considering e-flows is another major cause of this problem. In this paper, we suggest that the measures for satisfying e-flows be extended from the water supply stage to the river channel design stage. We establish a new weir height determination framework that would more effectively satisfy the required e-flows. The new framework differs from previous frameworks, in which flood control and water retention are the major concerns and the flow during floods is set as the inflow. In the new framework, e-flow provision and flow velocity maintenance are added concerns and the actual flows for e-flow supply are set as the inflow. As a case study of the new framework’s effectiveness, we applied it to the Shiwuli River in Hefei, China, a typical channelized urban river in China. The old framework specified too-high weir height to meet the e-flow requirements, whereas the new framework offered more reasonable heights that improved e-flow provision.

This paper presents a summary of the major differences between China Railway's technical standards and the advanced railway technical standards in other countries. In addition, the barriers faced by China Railway's products in terms of technical standards in its "Go Global" efforts are explored, as well as its adaptability to international railway markets. Furthermore, this paper presents the basic principles and goals of developing technical standards, and proposes measures and suggestions for developing technical standards according to the solutions found in other countries.
